July 5, 2006 Hello Fans, It's been awhile since my last update, but I'm doing fine. I've been reading and answering your notes and requests. I hope to get a lot of them read in the next couple of weeks. We split the series in San Diego over the weekend, getting our team over the .500 mark. Saturday was a long day with the doubleheader, but we were able to pull out a win that night. Sunday, Matt Morris pitched a solid game and came up with a clutch hit to turn it around for us. We are feeling great right now, and hopefully we'll be able to carry it over into the second half of the season. Many of you are e-mailing me to ask if I've been following the World Cup, and actually, I am watching most of the matches. I wake up in the morning, go to the gym and then get back home in time to eat breakfast and see the games. So far the teams I've picked have done well, but I started off the World Cup picking Brazil to win the whole thing. Now I will root for Portugal because my kids are part Portuguese, but I predict Italy vs. France in the finals and Italy to win it all. I have to commend FIFA during this World Cup for their stance against racism: "Say No to Racism," as well as having the team captains read statements before the kickoff. I know racism will not be wiped out in 30 days but it will increase the awareness of race issues in soccer and around the world, so it's a start. The announcers have done a great job in informing us about the players, teams and strategies used to win games. Last week, we had Poster Day at AT&T Park, where the first 20,000 fans got a Bonds poster, and 25 random fans received a signed copy of that poster. Now I am going to do the same thing on my site. I will pick a date sometime soon and post it a week before. From all the e-mails that come in on that day, one lucky fan will receive a signed poster from me. Below is a picture of one of the fans who received a signed poster at the ballpark. The past few weeks I've been working on some special products for the site. Because there has been so many requests for my bats, I now have a signed version of my SAM bat available on the site. I signed memorabilia for the site this week, including the 715 HR Baseball and 715 HR Pennant. We also have a few Web site and stadium exclusives that just launched. I hope you all had a happy and safe Fourth of July, and I would like to send an extra shout out to all the men and women serving our country protecting the freedom we all love. To all my fans, I cannot seem to say it enough - thanks for all the support. It has helped me a lot during these past few months.
Later,
