May 10th, 2007

Dear Fans,

We’ve entered the second month of the season and I’m happy to report that after a slow start, we have really come together as a team. Our pitching has been really strong and offensively we’ve been able to back them up. Everyone was asking if we as a team were worried about our start, but I remind people that it is a long season and it doesn’t matter how you start, but how you finish. I think it just took us a few weeks to gel, but right now, everyone is doing their jobs well and we are winning ball games.

On Saturday May 5th night I had the opportunity to be a part of a special dinner in honor of my friend Christopher Laub and to raise funds for the UCSF Children’s Hospital. I met Christopher in 2005 after he sent me a letter encouraging me to stay strong during my recovery from my knee surgeries. I was so inspired by this young man who was fighting for recovery from Leukemia. We formed a special friendship which has led me to have a relationship with the hospital where he receives treatment. I’d like to thank the Laub family for hosting the dinner and all of the guests who graciously supported the event. UCSF Children’s Hospital is a special place and I’m proud to be a part of it.
